A Broken Promise
Have you ever made a commitment? One that should never be broken, like marriage. I once made such a promise, though it was a silent promise, and no one ever knew I had made it. Until I had to give up this promise. Though no one knew, I felt torn in a thousand pieces, and felt completely destroyed. I assume by now you are wondering what commitment I could have possibly made, and then broken.
Well this is what happened: I was part of a wedding as usher. I walked down the isle with a girl very dear to my heart. When it was time for the groom to say “I do” I glanced over at this girl who was so precious to me. At that moment I said those two words silently in my heart. For many years I had kept this promise – always hoping for the best for the future. However as the years passed, my feelings got stronger and stronger. Recently I was informed that this particular girl did not share these feelings.
I had to break this promise within myself. I must say, a promise is a promise, and should never be made unless you know you will be able to keep it. A promise is commitment for life.
